Been a long time since I have last blogged about my QT.... well today I will do today's and yesterday's one... Really a very good reminder
Yesterday's QT really reminded me. It was talking about Esau's despise of his birthrights and also God. Esau is the firstborn of the twins, hence was suppose to have the birthrights and also spiritual and physical blessings that come with the birthrights. He was suppose to be by in Man's sight God chosen one to be the ancestor of Jesus. However, he despised his birthrights. Being the firstborn and the favoured son of his rich father, he has everything he wanted or needed. He therefore didn't really take the spiritual blessings and future physical blessings seriously. He was the firstborn after all, and hence should be the chosen one no matter what. He really take it for granted, and had no eyes for the spiritual blessings. Jacob however, really crave for the blessings. His method is no doubt wrong, but then God likes the fact that he crave for the spiritual blessings and getting close to God. So therefore, although he did an unscrupulous thing to cheat his brother out of his birthrights, but because of his heart and yearning for God, God chose him. Well, to be more accurate, God choose him before he was born, and therefore chosen by grace... However, Jacob did his part.... The part about his methods is questionable, but God use that wrong thing to train him during the later parts. When Esau came crying asking his father to bless him after his father had already blessed Jacob, he could only give him the second portion. By that time, it was already too late to grasp the blessings.
Well, this story really reminds me and I hope it reminds everyone who reads my blog. Esau rejected and despised Spiritual blessings and God and God rejected him. Sure, God already chosen who is to be saved- Jacob and not Esau- therefore is election by grace. However, he himself also despised it. Just like any non-Christians and Christians before they are saved. However, as chosen children of God, it is possible for us to despise God's commands and His guidance and blessings. Esau was brought up in a "Christian" family. He definitely know about all the things about God and how He blessed Abraham and Issac. However, he didn't choose to do God's Will. Although he is not a "Christian" , Christians now can despise God when we don't put Him in first place. Nowadays, there are many more things that occupies our mind and time. Do we let them master us or do we master them? IF they master us, it is really time to rethink.... because God is then not in the centre of your life. Well, really a good reminder for me... I do need to rethink some things. I allowed some things to take more focus in my life. Has been working on it but haven't been really successful. However, this reminder is really kinda scary. Hope that my focus will be correct. :D pray for me.
Today's QT is about Issac. Issac to many doesn't seem to be a very, well, prominent person. He was like the ordinary son of a great father while he was a ordinary father to an extraordinary son. Well, today's qt focus was also on the fact that Issac made the same mistakes as his dad in saying that his wife is his sister. Well, the qt reminded me that children and juniors will follow your actions. Therefore, if you don't do a good testimony, your children and juniors will learn that too. How are you going to account to God when you face Him then? Therefore, it is imperative that one have to be a good example to his children and juniors. The only way to do that? Depend totally on God and to follow His commands. Really tough order, but it's the only way to succeed.
Issac made the same mistakes as his dad, both in going away from the promised land and into the other land and also lied about his wife. However, he was still a father of faith. After his setbacks, he stayed on the promised land. His life was also so good that non-Christians also attracted to him because God blessed him. At first he was kicked out of the land by the Philistine but after that the Philistine made a pact with him. Therefore something that we can learn from all this is that although we may have setbacks. As long as we go back to the Lord, God will help set our paths right and then we can continue to be a good testimony. That is if we allow God to work in our lives. Therefore lets make the right choice. :D
